Bubblegum Crisis is a 1987-1991 Japanese cyberpunk OVA series.I recently got my hands on a figure from Bubblegum Crisis — a rare find, if not downright, obscure. All the knight sabers in the series are female, and the one I have is ‘Linna Yamazaki’.

Overall, this anime closely resembles ‘Blade Runner‘—from the presence of humanoid robots and political turmoil to its bleak depiction of a dystopian future.Though the figure is smaller than I expected, its detailed craftsmanship gives it a charming, miniature appeal.Well, it does come with a stand, but I won’t be using it since I don’t have enough storage space.
What really stands out about this character is the long, stem-like things that hang down from her helmet. The motorcycle looks pretty badass too, doesn’t it?Hold on—do they actually combine? No kidding, they do combine! I’m really into this kind of thing, so I’m hooked.
Toshimichi Suzuki, the director of the work, said that the reason for the title Bubblegum is because, like bubblegum about to burst, it represents a future world on the brink of crisis.
I mean, this was the anime from the days when it was only available on video and laserdisc. Isn’t it just super cool compared to these, rather boring days?
Before you go, please enjoy the nostalgic charm of that era from the first episode, ladies and gentlemen,
“Tonight is a Hurricane !!”

Great post, I’ve always been a huge anime nut, especially for the 80s.
Somebody has told me Bubblgum actually came out an RPG game originally, and didn’t know they even had toys for it. Keep posting old anime stuff will ya.

Hi, yeah the 80s did mark a significant era for Jap Anime, it was such a huge cultural impact I must admit. Thank you for stopping by.
